Recent Adventures

Castlevania Part I (Session 22): The session began with the party regrouping at Lenti’s Mushroom Castle, where she returned from a cleansing journey with two newly improved Dodds. Summoned by Tom Paronskaft, Elyn introduced her companions to her adoptive father and to Morwen, a Gnoll Inquisitor seeking aid in the Demiplane of Dread. Tom revealed his rebellion against the Dark Hierophant by forging a Sigil of Deception for Elyn, which Lenti helped stabilize through a month-long attunement to the Crown of Chastity, resulting in a merged Sigil of Balance. The party then entered the cursed mists and arrived in a temporally unstable, “brighter” version of Daggerford, where they were perceived as distorted identities and uncovered signs of psionic control and dangerous gas buildup beneath the town. After a brutal encounter with animated horrors in a ruined orphanage during a reality shift, they investigated the mines and confirmed a catastrophic crack in a Well Gem. As the gas reached explosive levels, the town erupted in fire just before midnight and reset. The next day, Elyn found an untouchable Emerald Gem in Vayne’s study, and the party persuaded him to let them guard the intact Well Gem, though no guards arrived. Morwen vanished on her own mission, and after another shift, the Gem was gone and the castle destroyed. In the ruined chapel, Elyn triggered a battle with the Psionic Lich-Vayne, a Glass Golem, and Gargoyles, resulting in her and Lenti being petrified before the party triumphed and recovered a huge cut emerald, revealed to be Lich-Vayne’s Phylactery. Returning to the brighter version, they investigated the Vayne Family Crypt and, with help from the Vistani sisters Zira and Varka, deciphered a gem-cutting sequence that might unlock the crypt and lead them toward their next pursuit: the Grim Rapier.   Full Synopsis Here.

Castlevania Part 2 (Session 23): The Feinting GOATs began their investigation in Daggerford by speaking with Father Tamil at the chapel and studying a nobility ledger, which provided details on the Vayne family, including the suspicious death of Lord Vayne’s wife in a hunting accident. After pressing Lord Vayne to examine the cracked Well Gem beneath the cistern, he vanished, leading the party to take a long rest that caused the town to reset to the early morning. Elyn's attempt to use shapeshifting to trick Vayne into revealing his phylactery failed, and an ensuing confrontation led to the realm shifting back to the dark Daggerford, with Lord Vayne reverting to his Psionic Lich form, draining Bao Bao’s power. During the chaos, Adrian and Elyn solved the crypt's combination lock and smashed the Lich's phylactery, instantly destroying him and causing the elementals to retreat. Upon regrouping, the party found a new headstone that held the cracked Well Gem, and using their Vistani card readings, they opened a painted door in the crypt by imagining the face of the cloaked figure from the tavern, revealing the Vayne family riches. Adrian's great-great-grandfather, Ezekiel Dowelloft (Death), appeared on a misty cliff and agreed to relinquish the Weapon of Death to Cut-Cut after Adrian won a pistol duel, also providing key information about Lenti, Yorrok, and the rift into the Demiplane of Dread before vanishing. Following Ezekiel's final instruction to take a "leap of faith," the party emerged in a room with a Spirit Board, which led to a chamber containing a Bone Devil, which, once freed, revealed a passage to a room where the Dark Hierophant's five sentient creations (Scarecrows, Kukers, Phials, Tallows, and Gargoyles) had formed the Ebon Accord. The party and the races deceived the Dark Hierophant, who, upon realizing the trick, summoned a huge, faceless, winged horror before fleeing; the combined forces of the party and the five races defeated the beast after a costly battle. Following the Dark Hierophant through a portal, the party emerged in Alluria in a remote region of Mupalan, where Asante and the Umber Hulks informed them that due to time dilation in the Hierophant’s realm, they had been gone for six months and three days.   Full Synopsis Here.

The Showdown (Session 24): The session opened in the ruins of Jing Xu, where the party regrouped with Asante and learned of a secret entrance to the Clockwork Citadel from Victor Dowelloft’s journal. To create a diversion, Akemi rallied the five races of the Ebon Accord into a frontal assault while the party approached by lake aboard the Goat Float, only to be ambushed by their old Hammership, now crewed by hostile clerics. After a fierce aerial battle and Cut-Cut’s controlled crash, the group infiltrated the Citadel, bypassed guards, and navigated a flooded chamber filled with giant leeches before solving two intricate mechanical puzzles that opened the way to a grand ballroom. There, Yorrok revealed the journal was a trap and unleashed a brutal battle, killing Bao Bao and nearly the entire party before they were revived by magical pomegranates. As Yorrok’s fractured personality split into good and evil halves, his attempt to destroy the Shining Tetrahedron triggered an explosion that annihilated both versions of himself and the artifact. In the aftermath, Adrian’s Library Card manifested a fleeting escape door, through which the party departed.   Full Synopsis Here.
